Island Sweetie
Need I say more....except that we can't believe how long her fingers are. She takes after her Uncle Tim.
Earmuffs, Earmuffs
For those of you who don't rememlber or didn't see the movie Old School (Rodney Dangerfield movie and yes I saw it), there's a quote about saying "Earmuffs" when you say a bad word in front of little kids so it protects them. (I'm not going to put the quote from the movie here because it is way more obscene then I remember it being, I just always remembered the Earmuffs part).
Anyway, here's Maya with her Earmuffs (I need to say it a lot because of Guillermo), they are actually the Hippos from her Pak N Play, but hopefully they'll do the trick.

2 months old-January 15th
Update
It's been a while since I've had a minute to give the Maya update... so here it goes. She was two months old on January 15th. We took our first trip up to Arcata to visit Grandma and Grandpa Elfers a couple of weeks ago. Maya did great in the car for the 5 hours each way it took to drive.
She went to her first crab feed at the Humboldt Yacht Club, but slept through it all.
Tuesday January 20th she was awake for the inauguration of Barak Obama. My mom had a little get together at the house and it was fun to share the historic event. I think it is wonderful that my daughter gets to grow up knowing what IS truly possible. And hopefully we'll see a woman as president in the coming years. It's only a matter of time...
The biggest change in our lives is that I have started back to work, part-time for now but will be back full time by mid-February. I'm sure it is much harder on me. And at least Maya is at home with her Dad during the day, so it makes leaving a little easier, but not much. I did my first full day yesterday and was crying (again) at having to leave her. I hope it gets easiser.
Ok, enough of writing, photos are coming....

Just hanging around
This is Maya's preferred way to be held. Up on the shoulder so she can see what's goining on around her.

Saturday morning shoot
A visit with Uncle Joel
Guillermo's good friend and mentor, Joel was visiting from Hawaii last week. We are keeping our fingers crossed that he will be moving back state side soon.
Bath time
First Bottle
Before our trip to Southern California, Maya took her first bottle from her dad. She took to it well and we were able to feed her a bottle during the long car ride. I guess this means I can go back to work :(
